Feizy Wins Award At Dallas Winter Market

Feizy has won the award for Best Visual Presentation at the 2021 Winter Dallas Total Home & Gift Market for their interactive and inventive showroom design. The result of weeks of hard work coupled with the creativity and talent of the Feizy team was on full display throughout the company’s stunning ground-floor Dallas World Trade Center space, where 30 stylized vignettes were on display. Around 6,000 one-of-a-kinds, ranging in size from  2’ x 3’ to palace size, along with Feizy’s running line collections of machine-made, tufted, and hand-knotted pieces were also available to peruse. To bring the showroom to life, Feizy partnered with Artistic Transfer, a rapidly growing powerhouse in the fine art arena that represents a large pool of talented artists from all over the world. Each day during market, an artist set up shop in the front windows of the Feizy showroom, using the company’s one-of-a-kind vignettes as a backdrop for their live painting exhibit. Artists Karla Ceballos, Nomaan Nur, Stephen Hackley and Joseph Raymond, all drew inspiration from the rugs’ colors and textures for their new creations, and on-lookers were able to watch the creative process as it unfolded. “At Feizy, we’ve always known that rugs kindle creativity,” said Leah Feizy, Managing Principal.  “We are proud that our rugs are often the starting point for designers when formulating a vision for their projects. Watching these artists create beautiful paintings using our rugs as the inspiration was a really concrete example of that.” Feizy continues to push the envelope in all areas of the industry. With visual displays that communicate to buyers the latest trends and forward-thinking product at a variety of price points and in a range of styles, the company has a continued commitment to producing quality rugs and providing top-notch service and partnership. Nourison Reports Double Digit Growth In 2020

Nourison is ending the 2020 year with double digit growth, despite a challenging year. Nourison had to quickly pivot around their existing business structure. The COVID crisis prompted major updates in technology, allowing employees to work remotely from home, and also facilitating virtual customer meetings, virtual showroom tours and virtual markets. Nourison kept showrooms in Atlanta, Las Vegas and High Point open, implementing enhanced safety protocols and minimizing staff. Early on this year, Nourison had pulled shipments forward from their factories to keep up with order volume and fulfillment. Keeping product in stock and ready to ship has been instrumental to servicing our customers, as total shipments have increased significantly this year. Nourison will continue on improving operations with a large expansion of the Calhoun warehouse planned for 2021. The Las Vegas distribution facility which opened last year continues to operate at full force. Nourison has also continued to expand on outdoor and home accents categories, as well as meet demand for on trending colors such as blues and greys. This year has been particularly successful in selling displays and offering a larger assortment and selling into the mid to lower priced area rug categories. Custom, hand-knotted and One-of-a-Kind area rugs also did well during markets this year. With a focus on product, Nourison has also made website enhancements including better search functionality and launching Fifty to Infinity and Craftworks custom broadloom programs on www.nourison.com earlier this year. With all the new changes this year, Nourison hopes to for continued growth with brick and mortar customers into 2021 and delivering on product and inventory. “Being the best partner in the rug industry will remain to be our goal. We’ve done so much work on where we need to be going forward. The foundation is all in place to continue our rate of growth in 2021,” said Alex Peykar, principal at Nourison....

IMC Announced Revised Market Schedule For 2021

Capitalizing on a recent shift in timing of home furnishings industry markets, and in concert with ongoing travel and government restrictions in the western United States, International Market Centers (IMC) has rescheduled the winter and summer editions of the Las Vegas Market — originally planned in January and July — to run April 11-15, 2021, and August 22-26, 2021. IMC’s 2021 markets in Atlanta for Gift & Home and Apparel will run as scheduled.“We have opted to postpone the winter Las Vegas Market in connection with Governor Sisolak’s recent extension of Nevada’s ‘statewide pause’ and in consideration of stay-at-home orders currently impacting travel for key western states,” said Bob Maricich, IMC CEO. “HPMA’s decision to change High Point Market from April to June further affirms our decision and allows us to shift the winter Las Vegas Market into April. We also will alter our summer Las Vegas Market dates from July to August to allow enough time between the April Las Vegas Market, new June High Point Market dates and our summer market in Las Vegas. Our Las Vegas Showrooms including the Las Vegas Design Center remain open for business by appointment for buyers.”IMC will contact all buyers pre-registered for winter Las Vegas Market to communicate the change and to assist with adjustment of their plans. As an added benefit, the summer Las Vegas Market runs concurrently with HD Expo (August 24-25, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas) and ASD (August 22-25, 2021, at the Las Vegas Convention Center), giving buyers and exhibitors additional cross-market opportunities.According to Maricich, IMC’s gift and home furnishings events in Atlanta – as well as IMC’s Atlanta Apparel Markets in February, April, June, August, September and October – remain unchanged by the High Point and Las Vegas date shifts. “Our decision to maintain current timing and format of the events in Atlanta was informed by feedback from buyers and tenants as well as recent experience safely and successfully hosting eight markets for the Southeastern region at AmericasMart.”IMC’s revised 2021 calendar of markets is: Atlanta Market: January 12-19, 2021, at AmericasMart Atlanta February Atlanta Apparel: February 2 – 6, 2021, at AmericasMart Atlanta Spring Mini Market: March 3-5, 2021 at AmericasMart Atlanta Las Vegas Market: April 11-15, 2021, at World Market Center Las Vegas April Atlanta Apparel: April 13-17, 2021 at AmericasMart Atlanta Spring VOW | New World of Bridal: April 13-15, 2021, at AmericasMart Atlanta Design ADAC: April 27-29, 2021 at Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC) Spring Cash & Carry: May 3-6, 2021, at AmericasMart Atlanta Spring Sample Sale: May 19-21, 2021, at World Market Center Las Vegas Spring High Point Market: June 5-9,...

Spring High Point Market Postponed To June 5-9

The High Point Market Authority announces a date change for the upcoming Spring 2021 Market. Originally scheduled for April 17-21, Spring Market is postponed until June 5-9, 2021. “We are encouraged by the recent headlines about COVID-19 vaccines, but realistic about its impact on a spring timeframe, as the rollout will be slow. Coupled with the reality within our industry regarding supply shortages and manufacturing/shipping disruptions, the board of directors agreed it would be most beneficial to delay Spring Market until June,” commented Tom Conley, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority. A called board meeting took place on December 14 to discuss the potential date change upon receiving the suggestion from several exhibitors. The Market Authority’s board of directors voted unanimously to approve the shift. “While our safety measures proved effective this past fall, allowing more time this upcoming spring for the pandemic situation to improve and travel restrictions to ease makes sense. The industry will also benefit from a few additional weeks for product manufacturing and shipping,” commented Dudley Moore, Jr., chairman of the Market Authority’s board of directors and president of Otto & Moore. “Our paramount objective of prioritizing the health and safety of both industry members and the High Point community remains, while also allowing us to continue supporting ongoing business.” Registration for the Spring 2021 Market will open in late February at www.highpointmarket.org. The Fall 2021 Market dates remain as scheduled for October...

Capel’s High Point Introductions Well-Received

Traffic at this month’s High Point Market was light, as was to be expected during a pandemic, but Capel Rugs still was pleased by the level of activity it generated during the nine-day event. “There wasn’t a period when we didn’t have customers in the showroom, and the customers that came in were motivated buyers looking for new products to freshen up their assortments,” Cameron Capel, president — sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. “Considering the current state of things, we had a decent market.” Capel Rugs debuted a number of fashion-forward collections at the October 13-21 High Point Market ranging from value-packed, versatile machine made rugs to exquisitely detailed hand knotted designs. Leading the way were two hand knotted collections — Ashia and Marmara. Hand knotted in India, Ashia features four classic floral patterns with a plush, half-inch pile. Also sourced in India, Marmara is hand knotted of 100% wool with an intricate construction. Each end features a lovely one-inch fringe for extra interest. Four colorways are available– pebble, slate blue, mushroom and black. “Our new hand knots were very well received,” Capel said. “Marmara, a more transitional design, did particularly well. During this market, there was a lot of interest in our higher-end rugs.” At market, Capel Rugs also added fresh colors and patterns to several existing lines. Avanti, Capel Rugs’ best selling hand tufted, all wool collection from India, added two new traditional-leaning patterns — Avondale and Bartlett — each in three robustly colored colorways with a thick loop pile. The new Avanti Avondale design is available in linen, ivory multi and terra blue; Avanti Bartlett is available in blue pearl, indigo and biscotti. A 5’ x 8’ rug may retail for under $349. “Avanti continues to gain momentum thanks to its winning combination of price and quality,” Capel said. “Retailers know it’s a strong performer, and these gorgeous new designs will enable them to reach even more customers.” Also doing well this market were two new variations added to the Tasanee collection. A contemporary hand knotted collection with an abstract, painterly feeling, Tasanee has been expanded with three new colorways — charcoal multi, bluestone and alabaster. Hand knotted in India, Tasanee is a wool construction with a touch of viscose for added depth and sheen. “The three new Tasanee colorways drew a very positive response,” Capel said. “It’s a distinctive design with a rich, plush feel.” Capel Rugs’ additions to New Homestead, a recently introduced collection of domestically produced braided rugs, also generated good reviews. An updated take on the company’s iconic Old Homestead rug, New Homestead was inspired by the first chenille braided rug Capel Rugs ever created...
