AMERICASMART® HONORS RUG COMMUNITY AT ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY
America’s Magnificent Carpet Awards Features New Location and New Format
ATLANTA – January 13, 2015 – AmericasMart® Atlanta recognized the creativity, artistry and passion of the Area Rug industry at its annual America’s Magnificent Carpets® Awards staged on Friday, January 9, 2015 as part of The Atlanta International Area Rug Market® featuring the National Oriental Rug Show. Awards were given in the hand hooked/hand tufted, hand knotted, flat weave, machine made, outdoor and licensee rug categories as selected by industry experts Robert “Bob” Brown of Robert Brown Interior Design, Sharian Garner of Sharian Rugs, Inc. and Tami Ramsey of Cloth & Kind Interiors. Rugs were submitted to the Market Museum of Introductions for award consideration.
Event guests were greeted by the Atlanta Swing Orchestra playing jazz tunes and a cocktail reception before the ceremony, staged in the Peachtree Ballroom at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. Kevin Malkiewicz, vice president of Leasing for AmericasMart’s Home & Rug collection served as the night’s emcee. Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., vice chairman and president of AmericasMart parent AMC, Inc offered remarks and congratulations to the winners.
