Capel To Expand High Profile Licensing Programs At High Point
Capel Rugs is making major expansions to two high-profile licensing programs at the October 22-26 High Point Market.
The company’s introductions include a new custom-design collection being added to the COCOCOZY program as well as three new collections for the Biltmore® line. In addition, Capel Rugs is expanding its flagship line with two new braided designs. The new collections can be seen in Capel’s showroom at Market Square, Space 112.
The COCOCOZY line, first introduced in 2013, is adding a new Color Block collection this market that will enable consumers to mix and match up to three colors from a palette of 12 choices, including light green, navy, black and gray. Hand loomed in India of wool, the contemporary-leaning heathered design will ship to the U.S. in 90 days from the time of order. The new Color Block rugs can be ordered in any size up to 15’ x 20’.
“We’re taking a high-end, textured look that typically costs thousands of dollars and bringing it to the masses at a much more affordable price,” said Cameron Capel, vice president of national accounts for Capel Rugs. A typical pattern in the new Color Block program is designed to retail for $699 or lower for a 5’ x 8’ size. “Consumers can pick the colors that are just right for them. It’s a very elegant design in a palette of warm, soothing tones that’s right on trend with what’s happening in the market.”
In addition to Color Block, the COCOCOZY collection also is adding a new machine woven design called Finesse Tower Court, and two hand tufted designs called Glace and River. Finesse Tower Court is inspired by one of Coco’s best-selling designs from her textile line and is available in four color ways — Charcoal, Spa, Capri Blue and Barley. A transitional, hand tufted design, Glace is made of a wool and viscose blend and comes in four color ways — black cream, silver grey, crystal blue maize and garnet cream.
“This rug ties in very nicely with Coco’s pillows and throws,” said Capel. “We previewed it with our salespeople prior to market and everyone agreed that this new design will be a big hit.”
For Capel Rugs’ Biltmore® collection, which is marking its 11th anniversary this year, three new collections will debut this market, bringing the line’s total number of collections to 15.
“We can’t wait to share this latest round of classic Biltmore designs with our customers,” said Capel. “Working with our friends at Biltmore, we’ve created an attractive assortment of beautiful designs inspired by elements throughout the estate as well as direct replicas from actual rugs in the home. While rooted in traditional designs, these new rugs are rendered in fresh, updated colors that make them perfect for today’s homes and lifestyles.”
Capel Rugs is one of Biltmore’s longest-running licensing partners, an association that began in 2005 with the reproduction of antique textiles from Biltmore House, America’s largest privately owned home. The line of rugs has since evolved to include designs that are inspired by Biltmore’s gardens, architectural details, fine art objects, terrace views and furnishings.
Capel Rugs will hold a daily social event from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 22 through Monday, October 24, featuring a selection of award-winning Biltmore wines and scrumptious cheesecakes.
“We are extremely pleased to be entering into a second decade of partnership with Capel Rugs and are excited about what the future holds,” said Tim Rosebrock, vice president and general manager of Biltmore’s licensing division. “Together, we’ve created a line that has stood the test of time and speaks to the exceptional legacy of Biltmore while staying relevant to trends.”
Along with additions being made to the Biltmore® and COCOCOZY lines, Capel Rugs also is debuting two new U.S.-made braided designs this market — New Homestead and Bonneville.
An updated version of Capel’s oldest braided design — and the first braided rug to be made completely from chenille yarns — New Homestead has come back to life in an assortment of today’s hottest colors. Constructed in a new spin of fibers that mixes polyester, polypropylene and cotton, New Homestead is available in marble, vista, sundried red and fountain blue colorways.
Bonneville, the other new braid being added this market, features a wool-nylon construction. The pattern is offered in four colorways — aqueduct, pearl river, denim and sandy beach. Bonneville is available in oval and concentric shapes and sizes up to 360 square feet.
“As we head toward next year’s celebration of our 100th anniversary, we wanted to showcase our talents in braids by bringing out some fresh looks and colors,” said Capel. “These new designs provide the nostalgia our customers crave while also being on trend with current colors.”
Capel Rugs also will be showcasing a new hand knotted Jute design (Bengal) as well as eight new collections introduced at summer markets that are new to High Point. They include three hand knotted designs (Barletta, Bodrum and Kasbah), three machine wovens (Gravity, Kodari and Tangier), one hand tufted model (Callista) and one hand loomed design (Simply Gabbeh).
At the Fall High Point Market, Capel Rugs will exhibit in its permanent showroom on the ground floor of Historic Market Square, Space 112. The company also offers virtual tours of its showroom via a link on www.capelrugs.com.
