Capel To Unveil Range Of New Product At High Point
Capel Rugs will debut a number of fashion-forward collections at the October 13-21 High Point Market ranging from value-packed, versatile machine made rugs to exquisitely detailed hand knotted designs.
Leading the way are two hand knotted traditional collections — Ashia and Marmara. Hand knotted in India, Ashia features four classic floral patterns with a plush, half-inch pile. Four colorways are available — sage/ivory, azure/ivory, ivory/multi and rust/ivory. A 5’ x 8’ model may retail for under $1,999. Other sizes offered include 8’ x 10’ and 9’ x 12’.
The second new hand knotted collection being introduced by Capel Rugs this market is Marmara. Also sourced in India, Marmara is hand knotted of 100% wool with gorgeous floral patterns Each end features a lovely one-inch fringe for extra interest. Available in four colorways — pebble, slate blue, mushroom and black — Marmara may retail under $2,299 for a 5’6” x 8’6” size. Other options include 8’ x 10’, 9’ x 12’ and 10’ x 14’ sizes.
“We’ve been getting a lot of requests for more higher-end items,” said Cameron Capel, president – sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. “Since consumers are spending so much time in their homes right now, they’re looking for creative ways to freshen up their spaces. Marmara offers a very upscale, sophisticated look with an erased, no-border design, and Ashia is equally captivating with its updated take on timeless floral themes.”
Also on tap for Capel Rugs this market is the new Maxwell collection. Machine woven on Wilton looms in Moldova, Maxwell features 100% New Zealand wool. The nature-inspired “grass” design sports a lot of patterning but is flexible enough to work with a wide range of décor. Three colorways are available — meadow, carbon and cork.
“Maxwell is similar to our best-selling Barrister collection, a beautiful, high-end, hand knotted design,” said Capel. “Because of its machine made construction, Maxwell may retail under $749 for a 5’3” x 7’10” size, making it a very affordable addition to any room.”
Maxwell also is available in 3’11” x 4’11”, 6’7” x 9’10”, 8’2” x 11’6” and 9’10” x 13’ sizes.
During market, Capel Rugs also will be showing several new models introduced at the summer Las Vegas Market to High Point shoppers for the first time. They include Sheridan, a flat woven collection of three upscale yet casual leather rugs with creative geometric motifs and lively, gold-splatter embellishments that was well received in Vegas. Sheridan is available in three colorways — mushroom, ebony and peony.
“Ingenuity and craftsmanship shine in our Sheridan collection,” Capel said. “Using time-honored traditions, these hand-stitched leather beauties, accentuated with metallic leaf and grommets, make a unique modern statement.”
To ensure employee and customer safety, Capel Rugs is following all of the High Point Market Authority’s recommended guidelines relating to showroom protocols. Capel Rugs’ staff and customers will be required to wear masks and socially distance while in the showroom, and hand sanitizer will be readily available. In lieu of the usual gourmet lunch offered to buyers and designers, the company will provide individually wrapped snacks. “Safety is of utmost importance,” Capel said. “It will be top of mind throughout the market.”
