Feizy Announces Design Contest Winners
August 1, 2012 — Feizy Rugs challenged the public to DIY—Design It Yourself—and the public responded. The company announced the winners of its first annual design contest earlier today. Feizy is a member of the ORIA.
Angela Da Rocha’s intricate contemporary design, titled “Moinho Colorido,” took top honors. “I am honored that my rug design was chosen from among so many fine entries,” said Da Rocha. “My design reflects the melding of the cultures in which I grew up. My Sino-Portuguese background influenced the thought I put into designing this rug. The name ‘Moinho Colorido’ means ‘Colorful Windmill’ in Portuguese. The story behind the rug reminds me of the evolution in our history from when we depended on the windmill to produce fresh dairy products and, later, to provide electricity to the homes of many people.” As first prize winner, she will receive $500.
Diana Graham’s simple yet elegant floral took second prize, and she will receive $300. Cynthia Howard’s scrolling ironwork pattern has been chosen as the third prize winner, and she will receive $150.
Contestants were invited to submit a maximum of two entries per person via email. Entries being considered were then posted on the company’s Facebook page and fan votes were considered when choosing winners. “We had a great time reviewing all of the entries,” said Leah Feizy, Executive Vice President. “Our design team especially appreciated the contestants’ fresh perspectives and design influences and we were all excited about the public participation and comments we received through our Facebook page for the contest.”
Plans are in the works for more ways to involve the public through the company’s social media pages and boards. Visit Feizy Rugs’ Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/FeizyRugs and also find Feizy Rugs on Pinterest. Follow the company via Twitter @FeizyRugs.
