NYICS To Partner With HFN
Mirroring the changes happening within the handwoven carpet industry, the New York International Carpet Show announced today its partnership with Home Furnishings News (HFN).
“HFN is excited about partnering with NYICS, especially as the show continues to evolve,” stated Andrea Lillo, Fashion Editor at HFN. “With the growth of the handmade, artisanal movement, handcrafted rugs are in a unique position to resonate with today’s consumer — a consumer HFN knows well, having covered the home industry for nearly 90 years.”
Now in its 12th year, NYICS traditionally attracts buyers from carpet retail stores. While the tradeshow continues to outreach to rug dealers, NYICS has expanded its marketing to engage home furnishing stores which are increasingly merchandising handknotted carpets to provide customers with a one-stop shopping solution.
“Time is our most precious resource,” stated Murtaza Ahmadi, NYICS President. “Consumers will reward retailers with their shopping dollars who make it easier for them to create their living environments. As customers feel more comfortable buying online, retailers will be challenged to give a reason for them to come into the store. Product selection will be a big part of driving that store traffic – being able to touch and feel products holds value that e-commerce just can’t match.”
New York International Carpet Show will take place Sunday, September 11th through Tuesday, September 13th at the historic Terminal Warehouse (also known as the Waterfront or the Tunnel) located at 271 11th Avenue in Chelsea.
