ORIA Officers And Board To Serve Third Term

The ORIA announced that Reza Momeni will serve a third term as association president for 2016. The other officers will also remain: Kami Navid of Jaunty, vice-president; Behrooz Hakimian of Woven Concepts, treasurer; and Ramin Kalaty of Kalaty, secretary. They assumed their new positions on January 1, 2016.

A formal announcement was made to the general membership at their annual meeting on January 14th during the National Oriental Rug Show (NORS), which the Association has co-sponsored with AmericasMart Atlanta for the past 34 years.

“The ORIA has been a powerful advocate not only for the rug industry in the U.S., but for the health and welfare of the weavers in rug producing companies,” stated Mr. Momeni. “During my first two terms, we were able to accomplish a great deal in these endeavors. Our Charitable Fund, for example, raised funds for victims of the 2016 earthquakes in Nepal as well as to support organizations such as Care & Fair Nepal, Nepal Burn & Cleft Hospital, AmeriCares and STEP Label for which I am very proud. With the continued assistance of my able Board and members, I look forward to making additional progress on these and other initiatives in my third term.”

“On behalf of the Association, I would like to express my thanks to Reza and his fellow officers for their leadership and continued generosity in time and energy,” said ORIA Executive Director Lucille Laufer. “I look forward to working with them for what promises to be another challenging – but very productive – year.”
