ORIA Supported Hospital Nears Completion

Jim Webber of Nepal Cleft And Burn Center reported that they are nearing completion of Nepal’s first Teaching Hospital for Reconstructive Surgery. The exterior of the building is completed and one (of four) floors is up and running. The site was the venue a two week clinic in April 2013  sponsored by Operation Smile which brought in surgeons from the U.S. & Bankok for the free clinic focusing on the poor of Nepal.

The continued support of The ORIA Charitable Fund has been instrumental in these efforts.

Over the past 3 years five 40′ containers of medical equipment have been shipped from the U.S. to Nepal for the hospital. Nepal C&B purchased this (used and refurbished) equipment for less than 10 cents on the dollar. They are currently organizing a group of biomedical engineers from the U.S. to travel to Nepal to install the equipment. The goal is to have the entire hospital up an running in March-2014.
