The Atlanta International Area Rug Market opens

9:00AM – 11:30AM ORRA Board of Directors Meeting

2:00PM – 3:00PM Walking the Market with Phil Menendian and ORRA members.

This walk will include the new antique presentation on the second floor temporary

exhibits along with a walk throughout the rug market highlighting select vendors with

new offering and unique presentations.

Thursday July 14, 2016

10:00AM – 11:30AM “Knot To Be Missed” Presenter: Rich Amatulli assisted by a

panel of rug experts. The Topic is Modern Turkish Rugs with a focused discussion titled

the “Truth about Ushaks”. The subject will be a first hand account of market activities as

experienced by Interior Designers and other related trade members. A must attend if you

sell, buy or appraise Ushaks and other Turkish rugs.

1:00PM – 1:30PM “Enhancing Your Rug Appraising” with a panel of CRAs headed

by Jim Garner. As part of the new ORRA education program an open forum will address

the discipline associated with rug appraising in today’s marketplace. Current appraisal

techniques will be briefly reviewed.

2:00PM – 4:00PM “CRA Examination” Written Portion with Jim Garner and the

education committee members. Please contact accounts@orrainc.com for sign up and

testing information. Anyone may take the ORRA written exam. Examinees will be tested

on historical and technical knowledge of hand-knotted rugs. There is a exam fee.

Friday July 15, 2016

10:00AM – 12:00PM “CRA Examination” ID Portion Moderator: Jim Garner and

education committee members. This is the second part of the exam which only includes

identification of hand made rugs. 35 Oriental rugs will be on site. Examinees will be

expected to identify rugs as to age, origin, weave, and content.

Friday Noon thru Saturday and market closing will be open buying. ORRA board members as available will assist buyer.
