Capel To Debut Wide Assortment At High Point

Capel Rugs is rolling out a large assortment of new rugs in the Capel Rugs showroom from April 2 to 6 at the April High Point Market in Market Square, Space 112. The new rugs represent a wide range of constructions, styles and price points and offerings include fresh braids, updated Oushak and Gabbeh patterns and much more. The biggest introduction that Capel has made in recent years, these new rugs are designed to give retailers the stylish, high-value products they need to refresh their floors and drive traffic and business back to stores. “Retailers are hungry for dynamic new rug designs,” said Cameron Capel, president of sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. “Because of the many supply chain challenges brought about by the pandemic, their shelves have become bare. But now that the threat of Covid is waning, they are ready to restock and ramp up their merchandising activity with creative new designs.” Capel Rugs is expecting a busy High Point Market based on the volume of showroom appointments being made in advance of the show and the extra level of effort it has put into this season’s product development. “During the height of the pandemic, a lot of products we had in the pipeline had to be put on hold,” Capel said. “Now, we’re finally able to move these plans forward. As a result, at this market we’ll be showing a wonderfully eclectic mix of rugs, from high-value machine made rugs and elegant hand knots to stylish new braids, updated Oushak patterns and subtle abstracts. There truly will be ‘something for everybody,’ which is welcome news to retailers and designers looking to create excitement for their customers.” Leading off the product parade will be Verve, a new hand-knotted collection from India made of 100% wool. The initial introduction will feature two colors – silver multi and ecru multi – with more colors likely to follow at future markets. Six sizes are available, including 2’6″ x 9′, 3′ x 5′, 5′ x 8′, 9′ x 12′ and 10′ x 14′, and a 5′ x 8′ model may retail for under $1,299. “The Verve collection lives up to its name,” Capel said. “These designs are distinguished by their vitality, energy and liveliness.” “Unexpected accents on understandable fields create a fresh approach for these updated Oushak patterns,” she added. Also on tap for introduction in High Point is Gabby, a new hand loomed collection made in India of 100% New Zealand wool. Simple yet elegant, Gabby’s subtly colored Gabbeh patterns combine abstract geometric designs on open fields of color. Four colorways are available — granite, linen, oatmeal and wheat. Sizes include...

Capel’s High Point Introductions Well-Received

Traffic at this month’s High Point Market was light, as was to be expected during a pandemic, but Capel Rugs still was pleased by the level of activity it generated during the nine-day event. “There wasn’t a period when we didn’t have customers in the showroom, and the customers that came in were motivated buyers looking for new products to freshen up their assortments,” Cameron Capel, president — sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. “Considering the current state of things, we had a decent market.” Capel Rugs debuted a number of fashion-forward collections at the October 13-21 High Point Market ranging from value-packed, versatile machine made rugs to exquisitely detailed hand knotted designs. Leading the way were two hand knotted collections — Ashia and Marmara. Hand knotted in India, Ashia features four classic floral patterns with a plush, half-inch pile. Also sourced in India, Marmara is hand knotted of 100% wool with an intricate construction. Each end features a lovely one-inch fringe for extra interest. Four colorways are available– pebble, slate blue, mushroom and black. “Our new hand knots were very well received,” Capel said. “Marmara, a more transitional design, did particularly well. During this market, there was a lot of interest in our higher-end rugs.” At market, Capel Rugs also added fresh colors and patterns to several existing lines. Avanti, Capel Rugs’ best selling hand tufted, all wool collection from India, added two new traditional-leaning patterns — Avondale and Bartlett — each in three robustly colored colorways with a thick loop pile. The new Avanti Avondale design is available in linen, ivory multi and terra blue; Avanti Bartlett is available in blue pearl, indigo and biscotti. A 5’ x 8’ rug may retail for under $349. “Avanti continues to gain momentum thanks to its winning combination of price and quality,” Capel said. “Retailers know it’s a strong performer, and these gorgeous new designs will enable them to reach even more customers.” Also doing well this market were two new variations added to the Tasanee collection. A contemporary hand knotted collection with an abstract, painterly feeling, Tasanee has been expanded with three new colorways — charcoal multi, bluestone and alabaster. Hand knotted in India, Tasanee is a wool construction with a touch of viscose for added depth and sheen. “The three new Tasanee colorways drew a very positive response,” Capel said. “It’s a distinctive design with a rich, plush feel.” Capel Rugs’ additions to New Homestead, a recently introduced collection of domestically produced braided rugs, also generated good reviews. An updated take on the company’s iconic Old Homestead rug, New Homestead was inspired by the first chenille braided rug Capel Rugs ever created...

Capel Reports Strong Results At High Point Market

Two new stylish additions to Capel Rugs’ popular WILLIAMSBURG at Home® line drew an enthusiastic response at the October 19-23 High Point Market, as did a variety of other fashionable new designs introduced by the company. Fresh colors and lush textures were the key elements in the spotlight in the Capel showroom this market as retailers and designers shopped actively for new rugs to spice up their floors. The company’s showroom traffic held steady with last year’s October event — a welcome development in this era, when fewer retailers appear to be attending market — and orders were up versus 2018, thanks to the creative assortment of trend-setting rugs that Capel introduced at the show. “We had a great market,” said Cameron Capel, president – sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. “All of our new rugs were well received, and we generated a lot of new placements with both existing and new customers.” Helping to spark activity was a special “Buy more, save more,” promotion, in which Capel Rugs offered discounts of 10% to 20%, depending on the number of rugs purchased. The promotion stirred a wave of new placements for both new and existing designs, according to Capel. Generating particularly strong results for Capel this market were two new designs added to the WILLIAMSBURG at Home®  line — Arcadia and Goa Garden. Arcadia, an oversized floral rendering of a timeless 18th-century design from the archives of Colonial Williamsburg, is a hand tufted wool design in three colorways. “This design really pops off the floor,” said Capel. “The space-dyed yarns, together with a sheered high-low texture, create a three-dimensional effect in which it appears that the floral patterns of Arcadia are floating on top of the rug.” Designers shopping the market especially liked the sage colorway, which combines an up-and-coming green tone with a rich cream background for a very on-trend look. Also doing well for Capel Rugs this market was Goa Garden. This hand-loomed construction with double-back treatment features hints of arabesques and paisley shapes, echoing designs on textiles exported by the British East India Company to England, and from there to British colonies, during the 18th century. Constructed of 60% viscose and 40% wool with a high-low pile texture, Goa Garden is available in three colorways. “Goa Garden exemplifies the ‘Trend Meets Tradition’ approach of the WILLIAMSBURG at Home® line,” Capel said. “We took a very traditional, intricate paisley motif from the Williamsburg archives, and expanded the proportions so that the design became much more abstract and transitional. The design feels very current and timely while also paying homage to a classic look from the...

Capel Unveils Fresh New Designs At Spring High Point

Capel Rugs is adding several innovative designs to its licensed Biltmore® For Your Home and WILLIAMSBURG at Home® rug collections at this spring’s High Point Market while also refreshing its flagship line with a variety of new, fashion-forward, machine-made products in their showroom located at Market Square, Space 112. “Bolder colors are slowly creeping back into today’s homes after a period where everything was rather muted and neutral,” said Cameron Capel, president – sales and marketing for Capel Rugs, about the current trends in the marketplace. “Demand for quality machine-made wool rugs at a slightly higher price point also is growing, as consumers look for intricate designs with classic patterns but with updated color palettes. We’ll be showing lots of exciting new designs in these categories this market, along with some high-value braids and indoor-outdoor rugs.” THE INDOOR/OUTDOOR FINESSE MOTIF IS BEING ADD TO THE  BILTMORE® FOR YOUR HOME PROGRAM DURING APRIL’S HIGH POINT MARKET. Introductions in the Biltmore® For Your Home program include Finesse Motif, a new pattern being added to the Finesse collection. Inspired by a timeless design motif in the Billiard and Breakfast rooms of Biltmore House, the historic estate built by George Vanderbilt in Asheville, N.C., Finesse Motif features an elegant yet versatile border surrounding a soft scroll interior pattern. Four colorways are available — sage, charcoal, noir and barley. The collection is machine woven in Belgium of 100% olefin and offered in 3’11” x 5’6″, 5’3″ x 7’6″ and 7’10” x 11′ sizes. A 5’3″ x 7’6″ model may retail for under $149. In addition, Capel Rugs is introducing a new Biltmore® For Your Home collection at the April 6-10 High Point Market called Tribute that pays homage to the Vanderbilt family’s legacy of gathering and gracious living. The collection includes two machine-made designs — Parlor and Bazaar — in 100% New Zealand wool. Available in a total of four creative colorways, a 5′ x 8′ rug may retail for under $749. “The vibrant colors and playful patterns of the Bazaar rug are reminiscent of the celebrations held in various gardens of the estate over its storied history,” said Capel. “Parlor also takes similar inspiration from the rich surroundings of Biltmore, capturing the warm spirit of family and friendship for which the Vanderbilt family has always been so well known.” In the WILLIAMSBURG at Home® line, this market’s introductions include the new hand-tufted Clayton collection. Inspired by a mini-print in a late 18th-century swatch book from Manchester, England, that is now in the Colonial Williamsburg design archive, this striking 100% wool rug features graphic, playful shapes in a block print-style pattern. Casual and versatile,...
