ORIA Elects New Officers
The Oriental Rug Importers Association (ORIA) held their annual meeting hosted by the World Market Center in Las Vegas on Tuesday, January 28th and elected the following Slate of Officers: President, Kami Navid (Jaunty) Vice President, Hari Tummala (KAS) Secretary, Michael Riley, (Karastan / Mohawk Home) Treasurer, Behrooz Hakimian (Woven Concepts) The ORIA has been a powerful voice and advocate for the rug industry in the United States since 1958. With the leadership of the newly elected ORIA Officers and Executive Board, the organization is committed to promoting the best interests of The Oriental/AREA Rug Trade in the United States and in countries that produce their beautiful floor coverings. “On behalf of the Association, I would like to express my thanks to Ramin Kalaty, the immediate Past President and his fellow Officers for their leadership and continued generosity in time and energy,” said ORIA Executive Director Lucille Laufer. “I look forward to working closely with newly elected ORIA President Kami Navid and his Officers and Executive Board to bring the Association forward in what promises to be another challenging – but very productive year.” Photo Credits: Jim K. Third Annual Silent Auction To Benefit ORIA And Charitable Fund
Sixteen ORIA members have each generously donated one or more beautiful area rugs for this important event which will be held during the upcoming July Atlanta market on July 13-15, 2011. In addition, AmericasMart has provided exhibit space on the fourth floor (4B1) for the fundraiser. Each rug purchased at the auction not only supports two very worthy organizations, but also provides a tax deduction. This is a very important fundraising event for the ORIA and we hope our industry colleagues will support our efforts by visiting the gallery (open Wednesday to Friday, 9AM-5PM) during market and bidding on one or more of these magnificent rugs.
