Tamarian Announces Partnership With Label STEP
In a recent company memo sent by Tamarian to their dealer base, Principal Ryan Higgins celebrated the company’s decision to partner with Label STEP as real evidence that Tamarian “cares about the future.” Since taking sole ownership of one of the world’s leading importers of Tibetan rugs, Higgins has restated Tamarian’s Mission Statement that is in concert with STEP’s commitment to eliminating child labor, empowering weavers and workers, and fostering an environmentally sound production. Reassuring An Established Fanbase Tamarian has been a leading importer in the U.S. for decades and has always strived to set a high mark for both social and environmental responsible practices in rug production. The opening of their premier weaving facility in Kathmandu a few years ago launched one of the most modern weaving operations to-date; boasting large, open, well-lit working and living spaces that incorporate “green” architectural elements such as roofing that accentuates natural light and improves ventilation. The dealers, designers, and end-users that have worked with Tamarian over the years know that the high-end quality of their rugs come from a production of equally high standards. Tamarian’s Marketing Director Ned Baker states, “We are often celebrated for giving client’s a ‘great experience’ along with an amazing rug, which is only possible because we have clear lines of communication with our manufacturers and partners with good information flowing back/forth. This is not possible with a production that exploits people and resources. Our partnership with Label STEP is a logical evolution to assure we are genuine in our commitments.” Label STEP’s managing Director Reto Aschwanded agrees, ““We are excited about the partnership with Tamarian and proud to welcome one of the leading Tibetan rug brands as a new member. We believe it will not only benefit Tamarian’s weavers and artisans but will strengthen the sustainability of Nepal’s handmade carpet industry.”...
Tamarian Announces Collaboration With Baltimore Artists
Tamarian is excited to announce a rug collaboration with fellow Baltimore-based artists Annie Howe and Jessie & Katey. Tamarian continues to explore new ways to innovate and diversify their design portfolio from traditional sources of inspiration; and working with these arts-scenesters, who have been bringing high energy and aesthetic to the region and beyond for the past decade, is a welcome departure, if not a homecoming. Annie Howe is the artist behind Annie Howe Papercuts located in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Fiber, she worked in community arts for many years, creating and contributing to the Baltimore art community with large-scale puppetry and shadow puppets. As her love for storytelling grew through this large medium, she found her focus as an artist shifting from large 3D objects to that of the smaller more intimate medium of paper. She founded Annie Howe Papercuts in 2010, creating handmade papercuts for businesses, publications and private collections. Her illustrations are easily recognized in many branding and publishing initiatives. Jessie Unterhalter and Katey Truhn (aka Jessie & Katey) are a Baltimore based artist team striving to transform public spaces into colorful and vibrant experiences. They have been collaborated internationally on large-scale murals, fine art and sculpture since 2012. Their mission grows from a simple desire to bring playfulness to public spaces and enhance people’s lives through art. They believe that the aesthetics of one’s environments can influence their emotions and state of mind. With a passion for people and design, they bring life to unsung spaces through abstract painting and sculpture. Their work explores themes of movement and symmetry, inspired by bold color combinations, patterns in nature, woven textiles and formalism....
Tamarian To Feature Selfie Station At NYC Rug Show
Tamarian Carpets is excited to announce that their 2018 NYC Rug Show booth will feature a “Selfie Station” that includes custom Green Screen backdrops with various props and costume accessories. In addition to the release of a myriad of new product, Tamarian will also celebrate the social aspects of the industry and the friendships they have forged in 20+ years of business. Tamarian’s National Sales Manager Chris Saliga pioneered this year’s enhanced booth feature as a way of encouraging the interactions of customers. Saliga suggests, “Tradeshows are unique opportunities to have your various customers interact; share information, anecdotes, forge new friendships. This helps create positive business outcomes but also lasting memories and relationships that can be quite meaningful.” Saliga’s goal was to create “a fun, interactive booth that would break some of the monotony of the Tradeshow scene.” Tamarian’s Key Account Manager Ned Baker adds, “We have always tried to be innovators and leaders in the use of technology in the rug business. Social media has evolved to become a critical aspect of marketing and customer interaction, with the ‘Selfie’ being THE most recognizable types of content in the world! This year we will help promote the WHOLE INDUSTRY by facilitating great images for everyone to share. People’s feeds will be ON FIRE during the show, we will make SURE OF IT!” Tamarian will further enhance the theme by featuring images from Nepal for the Green Screen backdrop, giving attendees a “virtual picture of them in the Himalayas”. In addition to digital pics, 4×6 prints will be available as a memento. Early time slots have already been filled so Tamarian HIGHLY encourages attendees to make an appointment to tour the new designs, colors, qualities, and support materials debuting at this year’s show…and of course, take a...
Tamarian To Show At The Rug Show-New York In 2015
The not-for-profit Rug Show organization continues to grow in New York and LA for 2015 with top rug maker, Tamarian, confirming its commitment to both events next year. Founded just two years ago, The Rug Show quickly has become a must-attend buying venue for rug buyers who are serious about high quality and haute fashion. Tamarian’s extraordinary selection of handmade rugs from Nepal offers buyers that and much more. “We’re committed to the rug industry and couldn’t be more excited to be involved with both shows,” said Tamarian founder Steve Cibor. “For the LA Show in March, we want to reach out to our West Coast clients to make our new products as accessible and easy to shop as possible, especially for those customers who don’t get to see us at the January Atlanta Rug Market.” While Tamarian remains a member and participant in the Metro Market Week trade show in New York each fall, its added participation in The Rug Show @ Javits offers customers something everyone craves on the East Coast. “Coming together under one roof in New York City is the best thing for the rug industry and, ultimately, the best thing for all of our clients,” Cibor said. “It’s what the customers want, a united rug industry with a buying venue under one roof on the East Coast. I’m dedicated to that kind of unity, which is why I am so excited about exhibiting at The Rug Show @ Javits.” Baltimore, MD-based Tamarian kicked off its 20th Anniversary in business in September. Tamarian’s entirely handmade rugs are crafted in Nepal of the finest natural fibers, including lanolin-rich Tibetan wool that is hand-carded and hand-spun before being small-batch dyed. Patterns include updated classics, tasteful transitional styles and thoroughly on-trend modern designs, all of which are sold at leading retail stores around the country. Don’t miss seeing Tamarian, alongside other important area rug style makers from around the globe, this spring at The Rug Show in LA, March 29-31, 2015 and at the pre-fall Rug Show @ Javits, Aug. 30-Sept 2,...
